Mediafin

Tijd TV Player

Mediafin is a media and publishing company, and the owner of Belgium's leading financial and economical newspapers De Tijd and L'Echo. In 2008, Mediafin decided to put a growing emphasis on the production of in-house video content. They contacted Rambla, because of the reliability and speed of our Content Delivery Network (CDN), as well as for some other reasons.

One of those reasons is the availability of our API's, which allow Mediafin to integrate our services into their Content Management System, simplifying their workflow and making sure that breaking news can be watched online while it's still smoking hot. After a Mediafin journalist creates a new video, all he or she needs to do is store the video file in a dedicated local directory. This will trigger a client application to send the file to our encoding service, which will result in the video being encoded to multiple online formats (including mobile formats like iPhone and Blackberry) and being published on our CDN.

Another reason is Rambla's strong expertise in both multimedia and content delivery, combined with our customer-driven approach. Mediafin relies on us to keep up with the newest technical evolutions in the field of multimedia and integrate those into their platform by way of custom development. Mediafin also knows that it can depend on our high-quality support, to make sure any issue gets resolved before their news turns stale.

Mediafin recently overhauled its online newspapers completely, offering ever more video content. The site now features a custom video player, which was tailored by Rambla. Among many other features, the player ensures video is delivered to tightly secured corporate environments (which often block streaming video), thanks to a fallback mechanism that subsequently tries several delivery protocols.
